In 2016, the new owners of a local well drilling company, N.W. Poole Well & Pump Co. in Wendell, NC, felt God calling them to return the blessings that He had given them and provide water for a community less fortunate by drilling a water well. One of the owners had a friend, local Pastor Nicholas Muteti of Wake Forest, who had family in Kenya, Africa that would be able to facilitate all the permitting and surveys needed for such a project. Through the hands and feet of Pastor Nicholas’ brother, James Muteti of Kenya, land was donated and a local well drilling company provided a quote to begin working. The owners of N.W. Poole sent funds to Kenya for the project to begin and the plan that God put into motion began falling into place. One of the owners, Kevin Letchworth, travelled to Kenya to oversee the project. Traveling with him was Pastor Phil Brantley of Bethany Baptist Church and Church member, Robert Bonham, who took with him his extensive knowledge of water treatment. The three of them visited the site where the well was completed and were able to coordinate with another local company to install the solar panels and pump that would best suit the community.
Members of the community came from near and far to see this process. One gentleman who was 90 years of age, camped out at the site because he wanted to see clean water from the well for the first time in his life. Ladies in the community sat and watched the process which would be life changing for everyone in the surrounding communities.
It was at that time that God showed these men from North Carolina that more was needed to be done in Kenya, Africa and other underdeveloped countries around the world. From that well project completed in February of 2017, the men knew that the people of Kenya and globally needed clean water but, more importantly, they needed to hear about the Living Water that only comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ.
What separates our foundation from other similar groups is that we use the skills and expertise of our every day careers to coordinate drilling wells and installing pumps in the international communities. We also understand that the physical need for clean water is second to the most important spiritual need we all have for Jesus. While visiting Kenya, Kevin, Pastor Phil and Robert were able to work with brother James and introduce people they encountered to Jesus and to explain this Living Water.
If you need more information about salvation or a relationship with Jesus, we encourage you to contact us via phone or email. If you feel lead to donate to help communities like this one in Kenya have access to clean drinking water, we would greatly appreciate it. Our goal is to drill one well per year but only God knows where this ministry will take us. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and we ask for your prayers for all our future endeavors.
